People over exercise

When Nassim Taleb was interviewed on Conversations with Tyler, he was asked what mistakes people make in the gym. His response, they over exercise.

I thought that was a great synonym for life. Most of us overdo everything. Reach a goal, where’s the next one. Sell your business, build another one. Finish a race, when is the next one?

It’s exhausting.

We’re all in someway overcoming the need to be exceptional. Some of us excel at this. I’m in the camp that fails miserably. But I’m working on it. The first step comes when we realise that happiness is unattainable if we chase it too hard. Instead, when we learn to appreciate that our life is good enough, happiness will likely come to us.
